ECC FIRST ANNUAL GOLF OUTING DECLARED A SUCCESS!

Our first annual ECC golf tournament was held on August 16, 2002. It appeared to be a huge success. We gave away great prizes and the golfers all seemed to have fun. The event resulted in over $2,000 for the Clyde York Social Center. 100% of that money will be used at the Clyde York Social Center in Jacksonville to provide meals, positive activities, independence, and self help assistance for the people we serve. Since the golf outing we have already had 6 more people with disabilities complete an application to become part of the group. None of these people are currently enrolled in any of the Elm City Center programs. The York Center regularly has attendance of over 70 people for their scheduled events. Despite the funding issues happening at the state level, we are working to continue Clyde York’s effort to help people be independent.

All the golfing spots were taken and several potential sponsors have already told me they want to be part of the show next year. Up until 2:00pm we were not sure the event would go on from all of the storms that day. Tom Casteel of Northridge checked the radar and said it looked promising so we went for it. Turned out to be a bright, steamy afternoon for a fun event. The beer cart did not come out, but several runs somehow were completed.
