News release from Illinois College, Jacksonville Illinois - December 4, 2003
New date set for Illinois College's chili cook-off
The food service contractor for Illinois College invites the
public to
participate in a chili cook-off on Saturday, December 13, with all benefits
going to Jacksonville's Elm City Center.
Chartwells Dining Service will serve as the event sponsor. Matt Kent, the
college's food service director, said serving will begin at 11 a.m. in
Cummings Dining Hall and continue until 1 p.m. Contestants will represent
Illinois College students, faculty and staff.
The event was postponed from an earlier date this fall in
order to
accommodate additional contestants.
"We're hoping to attract a good cross-section of contestants
and offer a tasty variety of chili recipes," Kent said in announcing plans
for the
benefit. "I have been told that the campus has some pretty good chili cooks,
and we'd like to give the local community the chance to sample these
talents."
Admission is $4.60, and Kent said the cost will entitle
customers to sample as many chili varieties as there are available that day.
Trophies will be awarded to the teams that finish first, second and third,
and a Peoples Choice award will also be presented. Additional information is
available by contacting Kent at 245-3025.
