Services Available: The
Blessing Hospice provides comprehensive end of life care to families
facing terminal illness. While patients can retain their own physician,
services include the availability of the hospice medical director.
Professional care management includes registered nurses, medical social
work, home health aides, bereavement counselors, volunteers, and clergy.
Hospice provides all the goods and services needed for the family to
provide care at home, including needed medical equipment, such as a
hospital bed or oxygen, covered prescriptions related to the terminal
diagnosis, and supplies such as dressing and incontinent products.
Geographic Area: The Greene
County office serves Greene, Jersey, Maucoupin, and Calhoun counties. Services are
also available in Pike, Scott, and Brown counties through the Pittsfield
office. Admas, Hancock, and Henderson Counties are served by other offices
of the Blessing Hospice.
Eligibility Criteria:
Admission to the hospice programs requires approval of the attending
physician and the hospice medical director, both certifying that the
patients prognosis is believed to be 6 months or less. Patients must
reside in the geographic area served, and must share the philosophy of
allowing death to occur naturally, with out extraordinary intervention.
Fees/Costs: The Blessing
Hospice accepts reimbursements from Medicare and Medicaid. Most insurance
companies have or will negotiate payment for hospice services. The
Blessing Hospice is underwritten by The Blessing Foundation. No one is
denied services based on inability to pay.
Hours: Office hours are 8
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Referrals are accepted during
office hours; however, nursing staff are available on-call 24 hours a day
and can be reached by calling 217-223-1200. Ask the operator to page the
